Test facility capabilities at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center

20 September 2023 12:10 - 12:40

The paper will discuss the current test facility capabilities at the NASA MSFC in Huntsville, Alabama, USA, that support rocket propulsion development, qualification and flight hardware testing capabilities.
The NASA MSFC strategies are evolving to engage more and more external customers to utilize the unique testing facilities and propulsion subject matter experts that MSFC has to offer. We have the ability to establish Space Act Agreements (SAAs) through our Partnerships Office to streamline the ability to fund and conduct tests for private and commercial domestic and international companies and agencies.
The paper will discuss the different test facility capabilities that are available for the aerospace industry, such as proof testing, burst testing, leak detection, flow testing, environmental testing for earth and space atmospheres, vibration testing, component hot fire testing, thrust vector control systems, structural and dynamic testing.
The Propulsion Department can also support your analytical needs with structural and dynamic analysis, thermal analysis, and computation fluid dynamics, for complete development, design, test and evaluation support.  Our goal is to provide the highest quality development test data to our customers so that they can successfully complete their design objectives.
