Recent Developments in Aeronautical Wind Tunnels

11 September 2024 13:15 - 13:35

This talk will highlight design features of two new, Aiolos designed, large aeronautical wind tunnels that are currently being started up and commissioned. The first facility is the new continuous low speed wind tunnel at Turkish Aerospace. The overall design of the facility will be reviewed. Special features such as interchangeable test sections and the various model support systems will be described. The second facility is a high-speed blow down wind tunnel at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). This facility has several unique features which have been developed by Aiolos. These include a novel new main pressure regulating valve, a second throat (or choke) using fingers, and a main ejector drive to reduce starting pressure ratio at high Mach number.
