Q&A with Rui Pedro Silva, Vice President, Engineering Functions, Bombardier

20/06/2024

What will you be presenting at the Aerospace Test & Development Show?

The Bombardier EcoJet research project.

What are the key challenges in the Aerospace Test & Development sector, and how will your presentation address them?

The conventional cylindrical aircraft shape is well understood in the engineering literature. With the EcoJet research project, Bombardier is rethinking, amongst other things, the way business jets are configured. The proprietary blended-wing-body design we are exploring requires the development and testing of this unconventional configuration.

In our presentation, titled Blending technology and ambitions, we will showcase our scientific journey toward shaping the aircraft of the future and how we are developing the toolkit to get there.

Why is it important to participate in this event?

At Bombardier, we design, build and maintain the highest-performing business aircraft for the world’s most discerning people, businesses and governments.

For them, our talented team members are committed to pioneering the future of aviation – innovating to make flying more reliable, efficient and sustainable. Industry-wide events, such as the Aerospace Test and Development show, are instrumental in sharing and collaborating within a knowledgeable and insightful industry, and in connecting experts and passion-driven people.
